Sukanta Sen

Sukanta Sen

Executive Director

Mr. Sukanta Sen has more than 20 (twenty) years long experience in action research, planning and programme facilitation in natural resource management exploring and giving importance on local and indigenous knowledge in Bangladesh. Mr. Sen is one of the founders of BARCIK in 1997, a non-governmental organization. He studied Geography in Jahangirnagar University and also obtained MS in Environmental Studies from the State University of Bangladesh. Mr. Sen has been engaged in action research, policy advocacy and publication sectors, institutional capacity strengthening of local institutions and participatory research since the nineties. He has specialization on participatory approach and methods, Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA)/(PLA), Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) and Environmental Management System (EMS) and coordinated several studies on natural resource management, agricultural biodiversity and climate change as principal researcher. Mr. Sen attended several national and international trainings, seminars and conferences and presented papers on natural resources management, climate change and local/indigenous knowledge issues. Currently Mr. Sen is the Executive Director of BARCIK and one of the key facilitators of Peoples Led Development Approach (PLD) in Bangladesh to contribute to improve rural peoples’ livelihood and empowerment process. Mr. Sen is also the editor of Bengali monthly bulletin Amader Paribesh (Our Environment), yearly journals Trinamul Uddyog (Grassroots Initiatives) and Grassroots Voice. .

Rumaisa Samad

Coordinator, BARCIK

Rumaisa received MSS in sociology from the University of Dhaka. She started career as a school teacher; afterwards she switched over in development practice. She has 11 years of experience in planning, monitoring, programme facilitation and action research considering Natural Resource Management, Biodiversity Conservation and Indigenous Knowledge. She is a strong advocate for people led environment friendly development. She has been working for BARCIK as coordinator since 2001 with inquisitiveness to learn. She has been holding the responsibility to coordinate the projects, reports writing and strengthening institutional capacity. She attended different national and international trainings, workshops, meetings, seminars in home and abroad. She attended courses on Participatory Monitoring and Evaluation, Strengthening Organization in International Institution of Rural Reconstruction (IIRR) in Philippines, Participatory Impact Monitoring jointly organized by MISEREOR, Germany and Caritas Nepal in Nepal. She translated articles for BARCIK’s Publications. Recently she has been especially assigned for Monitoring and Institution Building. In addition, Rumaisa is also active with several social organizations to enhance women capacity and empowerment.

Suprakash Mondal

Coordinator, Accounts & Management Unit, BARCIK

Mr. Suprakash Mondal has more than 23 years ( twenty three ) of long experience in Accounts, Finance and Management sector. Mr. Mondal has been working as a Coordinator, Accounts & Management Unit of BARCIK since 2001. As coordinator of accounts and management unit, Mr. Mondal prepares the final accounts as per the guideline of the Donor, NGO Affairs Bureau and related other sectors. He has explicit knowledge on project Accounts, consolidated Accounts, tax, vat, budget, planning, field Monitoring, internal audit, accounts manual, operating the accounts software and accounts related various formats. He obtained CACC from BASU BANERJEE NATH & CO. Chartered Accountants. Previously Mr. Mondal worked with Gonoshasthaya Antibiotic Ltd. a project of Gonoshasthaya Kendra Trust, Nayarhat, Savar, Dhaka for about 9 years as an Assistant Finance Manager and James Pharmaceuticals Ltd, Mirpur, Dhaka for 2 years as a Finance Manager. .

Ferdowsi Akther

Ferdowsi Akther

Coordinator, gender & development cell

Ferdowsi Akther is a social activist with 11 years’ experience conducting applied research, developing and managing projects related to natural resource management, and local governance in Bangladesh. Currently, she acts as coordinator for the `gender & development Cell. She started her career as a field researcher where she facilitated and developed the capacity of staffs to conduct research and documentation to find out the insight views of the local people’s to reach the goal. Ferdowsi holds a M.A in History & got several trainings from home and abroad. Gender equity, stop violence against the women and adolescent rights forms the crux of her work. She has been working with BARCIK since 2001.

Pavel Partha

Coordinator, Food Security Program

Pavel Partha has been working for BARCIK since 2003. Currently he is assigned as coordinator of food security program of the organization. The struggle for forest rights of indigenous people, protection of biological diversity, eco-feminism, ecological justice, local knowledge and ethno-science, climate politics, development disaster, jhum cultivation and agrarian revolution are the major fields of his works. He completed his M.Sc degree in Botany from Jahangirnagar University and conducted a pioneering large scale ethno-botanical research in Bangladesh. He is a researcher, a writer and a organizer as well. Mr Partha is the author of `Khaddo, Longhon O Lorai (an eco-political analysis of food security and food struggle in Bangladesh; 2010, in Bengali)’, `Aronner lorai (forest policies and forest rights of indigenous peoples of Bangladesh; 2010, in Bengali)’, `Uttarbanger Adibashi Muktijoddha (Freedom fighters of Indigenous Community in North-Bengal; 2009, in Bengali)’, `Madhupurer Pranboichitro (biological diversity of Madhupur Sal forest-an political ecological analysis of forest relationship of indigenous peoples of Madhupur; 2004, in Bengali)’, `Krisohker beej adhikar (seed situation and farmers’ seed rights of Bangladesh; 2004, in Bengali))’. He has compiled and edited the books titled `Grammen Jibonjatra mela 1415 (a compilation of rural agro-biodiversity and livelihood fair; 2009, in Bengali)’; `Nao-jatra (compilation of a peoples’ campaign on boat-caravan for sustainable agriculture and economic justice in the haor areas; 2008, in Bengali and English)’ and `Jatiya Beej Ghosona 1411 (a booklet on National seed declaration 1411)’. Mr Partha has attended several national and international seminars, trainings and conference and presented papers based on those issues he has been working for since 2003. .

Coordinator, Biodiversity Conservation, Climate Change & Food Security Program

SYED ALI BISWAS has been working with BARCIK since 2003. After Completion of his graduation and post graduation in Anthropology from Shahjalal University of Science and Technology he joined BARCIK as an assistant program officer. With the objective to study the livelihood options as well as lifestyle of rural people he spent his first three years at field site Netrakona. Staying there and being able to have close interaction with the community people Mr. Biswas observed that rural people earn their live and livelihood by sharing and exchanging their knowledge, skill, experience, resources and technology with each other. This livelihood pattern is environment friendly and ensures the proper use and management of natural resources. Thus Mr. Biswas has been working for BARCIK with utmost care and sincerity to contribute in the inclusion of these grassroots initiatives into mainstream development process. However, Mr. Biswas is one of the main facilitators of biodiversity conservation, climate change and food security program, the core program of BARCIK. He has attended national and international seminars, workshops, conference and discussion to gain more insight, experiences and skills as well as to share the people led development initiative with like-minded organizations and individual. Thus Mr. Biswas has so far visited Philippine, India, Nepal, Thailand, South Africa along with his vast experience of visiting different ecological zones of Bangladesh.

A.B.M. Touhidul Alam

Coordinator, Agro-Biodiversity, Climate Change & Food Security Programme

A.B.M. Touhidul Alam is an Agriculturist in a career spanning over thirteen years has gained experience in the fields of ecological agriculture and empowering process of marginalized farming communities in Bangladesh. As a coordinator, his major involvement at present providing technical support to staff and farmers in conducting Applied Agricultural Research for selecting area-specific crop varieties and crop improvement at various AEZ (Agro-Ecological Zones) in Bangladesh. He also conducts sessions on ecological farming, agro biodiversity conservation, indigenous knowledge, eco-friendly farm management and related issues to farmers and other groups. Prior to this position, he served for CARITAS-Bangladesh as Agricultural Extension officer engaged on-farm crop varietals trials in wet land eco-system and also facilitated training workshop on Sustainable Management of Wet-land Natural Resources. Mr. Alam attended local, international and overseas academic education, trainings, seminars, conferences and discussions in Uk, Philippines, South Africa, Nepal and several parts of India entitled on Bio-dynamic Organic Agriculture, Perma-culture Design, Conservation and Utilization of Plant Genetic Resources, Sustainable Agriculture & Food Sovereignty, National Workshop on Farmers’ Seed Rights & Asian Conference on Farmer-led solutions for Food Sovereignty and Climate Change Resilience etc. He has developed a training module titled `Ecological Management of Pests and Diseases’ with complementary pictorial materials which is useful and widely accepted by facilitators and farmers.

Silvanus Lamin

Coordinator, Knowledge Management and Communication

Mr. Lamin has been involved in producing and editing numbers of books associated with climate crisis, sustainable agriculture, environmental issues, gender and indigenous people’s rights issues leading him gather knowledge on that particular issues. He also has translated numbers of books, documents, articles associated with developmental issues. He is involved in research and internal evaluation process of BARCIK and conducted researches. He has produced numbers of books as well. Mr. Lamin has also been involved in facilitating students to get involved themselves in the acceleration of the solution of social problems with success. In this regard, he facilitated workshops and seminars and provided trainings to the students. Mr. Lamin acts as executive editor of two journals of BARCIK namely Grassroots Voices (English) and Trinomul Uddyough. He also holds the responsibility of executive editor of a newsletter named Amader Paribesh published by BARCIK. Mr Lamin has an M.S.S and B.S.S on Mass communication and Journalism from University of Dhaka. He has been working with BARCIK since 2005.

Associate Coordinator, Accounts & Management unit, BARCIK

Rupsana Mrong has been working with BARCIK since 2005. She has more than 7 years of working experience in different areas of Accounts & Management of development organizations. As Associate coordinator of accounts and management unit, Ms. Mrong prepares the final accounts based on the requirement of the Donor, NGO Affairs Bureau and related other sectors. She knowledge on project Accounts, consolidated Accounts, tax, vat, budget, planning, internal audit, operating the accounts software and accounts related various formats. Ms. Mrong obtained graduation and post-graduation degree on Management from the University of Dhaka.

Md. Zahangir Alam

Associate Coordinator, Agro-Biodiversity, Climate Change & Food Security Programme

Md. Zahangir Alam currently coordinates `Climate change, people led development and adaptation program of BARCIK. To implement the program successfully, Mr. Alam facilitates staffs at field levels, formulates plans and activities and ensures the smooth implementation of those activities. He does monitor and visit field sites and provides inputs to the staffs. Mr. Alam was involved in Hoar Agro bio-diversity conservation Program of the organization as well. He has contributed in producing the Haor declaration-2007 and Boat Caravan album (Photo story) and a book titled “Hoarer Jonodalil”. He has been working as staff of BARCIK since 2006 and has visited Asam, Meghaloya, Chennai, Urissa of India and participated in the Climate change Summit held in Bhutan in 2011 which somehow has increased his knowledge and in-sight on those particular issues. Previously Mr. Alam was involved as a teacher of British Columbia School at Adabor, Dhaka from 2001 to 2006 and part time teacher for slum working children of INTERVIDA Bangladesh School, Dhaka. Mr. Alam has an M.Sc and B.Sc degree from the department of Geography under University of Dhaka.

Mr. Shongkar Mrong has been working for BARCIK since 2006. As an associate coordinator his duties and responsibilities include: facilitation of staffs, providing training, arranging workshop. monitoring & evaluation, regular communication with delegates and donors, networking with GO, NGO, INGO, local administrations etc. Mr Mrong also produces reports based on the his works and the project he oversees. He also writes news and features for publication of BARCIK aims at strengthening the advocacy initiative of BARCIK. Mr. Mrong has visited India and Nepal to gain knowledge and experience associated with his works. He has also visited almost all parts of Bangladesh with the aim to contribute in rural sustainable development. Previously Mr Mrong worked for CARITAS Bangladesh, PROSHIKA and CARE-Bangladesh for almost 11 years in different posts. Mr. Mrong obtained MSS from the Asian University of Bangladesh.

Mr. Ershad Ali is started his career as Field Research Officer with CNRS where he facilitated the process monitoring of the organization. He has 9 years’ of experience in conducting applied research, developing and managing projects related to Education, ICT, Corruption prevention, Natural Resource Management and Renewable Energy sources in Bangladesh. He has also been involved in facilitating students to get involved themselves in the acceleration of the solution of social problems with success. In this regard, he facilitated workshops and seminars and provided trainings to the students. He has produced of article and book (such as; Bangladesher Dalu, a descriptive book of small Indigenous group in Bangladesh, 2009 in Bangla). Currently he acts as an Associate Coordinator for the ‘Knowledge management and Communication Cell’ and Deputy Chief Editor of Barciknews.com of BARCIK. Mr. Ershad also holds the responsibility of Associate Editor of a newsletter named Amader Paribesh published by BARCIK. Previously he was involved as an Associate Researcher of Caritas Bangladesh in its Chittagong Regional Office. Mr. Ershad has an MSS and BSS on Anthropology from University of Dhaka. He has been working with BARCIK since 2009.

Lipi Kar has more than 8 years of working experiences in accounts and administrative department of various development organizations. Currently she works as accountant with BARCIK. Ms. Kar has also gained experiences on auditing. She has audited numbers of organizations’ account in her 8 years career in development sector. The organizations and institutions’ accounts that Ms. Kar has conducted audit include: Bangladesh Road Transport Corporation, Jibon Bima Corporation, Shadharon Bima Corporation, Janata Bank, Dhaka Chemical Industries Corporation, Dhaka Chamber of Commerce & Industries, Easter Insurance Company and Oxfam (GB). Previously she served as Account & Administrative Officer in Bangladesh Shishu Adhikar Forum under Danida Project, worked as Account Officer in Disaster Forum funded by Oxfam (GB) and as Accounts Officer in East West Properties Development (Pvt.) Ltd. under the Bashundhara Group. Ms. Kar obtained graduation and post-graduation degree from Rajshahi University on Accounting. In addition, she completed Chartered Accountancy course (C.A) in 1998 under Khan Wahab Safique Rahman & CO chartered accountant. She has been working for BARCIK since 2012.

Shilpi Baidya

Ms. Shilpi Baidya has been working for BARCIK as an accountant since 2011. As an accountant she has experience in preparing financial statements, monitoring daily cash transactions, developing annual budgets and recording all financial activities and dealing with external auditing. She also produces financial reports based on the format provided by different donor agencies. She also conducts training on accounts keeping and facilitates the accountants of BARCIK in different areas working areas. Ms. Baidya received training on “Human Resource Strategic and Policies” conducted by BIM and on “Basic Accounting and Financial Management Manual” conducted by Diakonia,Dhaka. Ms. Baidya has a post graduate degree in Management from the national university.

Nazma Akter has 26 years’ of experience in poverty alleviation of poor women who live in urban slum and squatters all over Bangladesh through various development Program working with different organizations over the last 26 years. Currently Ms. Akter works with BARCIK as Program Officer of Human Resource Management (HRM.) However, she has experience in full spectrum of HR Management, Development, Administration, and Purchase procurement management related activities since 2000. She did MA degree under the National University of Bangladesh. In addition to that to enhance her capacity in HRM field she completed MBA (Major in HRM) from the State University of Bangladesh. She also did diploma Fundamental and Advanced in human resource management from the Advance Learning Interactive Systems Online (ALISON, UK. USA and Ireland). She has sufficient national and international exposure, trainings and certificate courses on HRM&D and Administration. She has been working for BARCIK since 2014.

Md. Abdullah Al Mamun has been working for BARCIK as graphics designer since 2009. His main responsibility as graphic designer include: composing, designing books and poster, photo stories, preparing layouts of different publications of the organization, editing pictures, preparing web based publications for uploading onto the website, designing banners for various projects advocacy programs and solve some primary hardware problems of staffs’ personal computers. Mr. Mamun has been graduated from Open University.

Mr. Gopal Kumar Das has been working with BARCIK since 2000 as a Management Associate. As Management Associate his responsibilities include: providing assistance to maintain the office hour, assisting the management unit, documenting office management related information, assisting staffs in various ways associated with their responsibilities, providing logistic support, event management and computer related services to the staffs etc. Besides, he is also a member of purchase committee of BARCIK. He has been dealing with these sorts of activities for the last 14 years.

Fardous Ahmed Uzzal

Program Officer, Knowledge Management and Communication, Dhaka

Fardous Ahmed Uzzal has been working for BARCIK since 2014 as a Program officer of Knowledge management and communication cell. Mr. Ahmed has always entailed himself in social, cultural and political movements. He is the member secretary in a national committee of river save movement in the banner of Save Environment Movement of Bangladesh and also a secretariat Member. Mr. Ahmed worked in a weekly newspaper EKOTA from 2007-2009. He has the experience to development the women empowerment, environment, the rights of minority people (Ethnic & religious), and awareness of root level People. Mr. Ahmed worked as a Master Trainer of EWG (Election Working Group) and also an observer of the last City Corporation Election of Gajipur 2013 and National parliament election 2014. He had been working as a program Coordinator of the project of `Effect of Climate Change & Environment’ supported by German Embassy during May-December 2013. He had graduate and post graduate degree in Mass communication and Journalism from Rajshahi University.

Program Officer, Gender and Development, Dhaka

Mollica Sarker has been working with BARCIK since 2014 as a program Officer of Gender and development cell. Ms. Sarker has more than 8 year’s experiences in Women and children rights related issues. She was involved in developing and managing projects related to gender and informal sector labour and Dalit rights issues. Previously Ms. Sarker worked with Naripokkho, Aparejeyo- Bangladesh and Nagorik Uddyog. Mollica Sarker holds an MSC in Fisheries and a post graduate diploma in development planning. She received several trainings on gender and gender related subjects and adolescent rights and issues.

Ishaque Uddin

Area Coordinator, BARCIK Atpara, Netrakona

Md. Ishaque Uddin currently acts as area in-charge of BARCIK Rameswapur Resource Centre in Atpara of Netrokuna district. As area in-charge he is responsible to formulate plan and ensure the implementation of activities in accordance with the planning. He is involved in producing report, monitoring and evaluation of the projects BARCIK implements in Netrokuna. Mr Uddin also keeps regular communication with local administration; civil society and journalist to familiarize the activities of BARCIK as well as to facilitate community people having linkage with those administrative and civil society bodies which assist them exposing their needs and demands for right establishment. Mr Uddin has received trainings on monitoring, evaluation, report writing, office management, disaster management, participatory rural appraisal, group development and management etc enabling him to perform his assigned duties properly. Previously he worked with Ahsaniya Mission and VDS. He has a graduate degree from National University. Mr. Issaq Uddin has been working for BARCIK since 2007.

Area Coordinator, BARCIK Atpara, Netrakona

Mr Ohidur Rahman presently holds the responsibility of area coordinator of BARCIK Rameswarpur Resource centre in Atpara, Netrokuna. His main responsibilities as area coordinator include: Developing relation with people of all stakes, organizing meetings, seminars and workshops to demonstrate the activities of BARCIK aims at facilitating to promoting the rights of natural resource users on natural resources, Building network between grassroots people and local administration through policy advocacy, creating linkage with like-minded organization and civil society, developing communication strategy to familiarize and promote the eco-friendly life and livelihood of grassroots people, documentation of people’s eco friendly and indigenous knowledge based initiatives etc. Mr Rahman received trainings on participatory impact monitoring and evaluation, climate change adaptation and mitigation; farmers led approach planning, gender sensitivity reporting, documentation, peer learning, workers skill development etc which enabled him to implement the assigned activities properly. Mr Rahman has a post graduate degree in History. Previously he served as area coordinator of Proshika, a national NGO, for 10 years. He has been working for BARCIK since 2007.

Program officer, BARCIK Atpara, Netrakona

Md Alamgir has been working for BARCIK since 2005. The responsibilities he holds as a program officer of the organization include: conducting advocacy, assist farmers and other occupational groups forming organizations, assist and train farmers about livestock rearing, facilitate farmers and women groups conserving seeds, practicing indigenous knowledge based agricultural works and developing mutual relationship with the occupational groups that BARCIK works with in the area. Md. Alamgir received training on livestock development, multiplication and rearing, water management, gender issue, mini hatchery and report writing which help him to carry out the assigned duties properly. Previously he worked for Proshika, a national NGO for five years. He has a post graduated degree from National University.

Program Officer, BARCIK Atpara, Netrakona

Happy Roy has been working with BARCIK since 2006 as an assistant program officer in the field site of BARCIK namely Netrokuna. However, with the objective to study the livelihood options as well as lifestyle of rural people of the working area, she tries to build rapport with those people and facilitates them in various ways. Ms Roy intensively observes the livelihood pattern of those people and learns about their strength, limitation and the potentiality of the area to be addressed through development activities. Having such knowledge on the life and livelihood pattern of those people has enabled her to facilitate, motivate and organize them to fight for their rights. Presently she is working to organize and strengthen the existing organizations of those people which they have formed being facilitated and motivated by BARCIK. She also works to encourage people conserving biodiversity, uncultivated plants and protecting the environment through their environment friendly life and livelihood practices. Ms Roy has attended several workshops and seminars and received trainings associated with her works leading her to sharpen and develop her facilitating and motivating skills. She has a post graduate degree in Geography.

Rukhsana Rumi works as an assistant accountant of BARCIK Rameswarpur Resource Centre in Atpara, Netrokuna. She was affiliated with BARCIK from 2007 working as field officer to document indigenous knowledge based agriculture practices as well as to gather information about the life and livelihood of the community people. However, in 2010 she fully works as assistant accountant of the organization. Previously she worked for Polly Mangal and Gharani. She was graduated from National University.

Associate program officer, BARCIK Atpara, Netrakona

Khadiza Akhter Lita joins BARCIK as an associate program officer in 2012. As an associate program officer, she facilitates farmers to adopt environment friendly agro practices and in the same time documents the ecology friendly local practices of the farmers and other occupational groups with the aim to promote their ecology friendly initiative to contribute in climate change adaptation and mitigation process. She has had training on participatory rural appraisal (PRA), facilitating skill development, group development, human rights and equality, disaster management, leadership development, training of trainers (TOT) and office management. Previously she worked for FIVDB for few years. She was graduated from National University.

Shimul Biswas

Associate program officer, BARCIK Manikgonj

Shimul Biswas has been working with BARCIK as an Associate Program Officer and office in charge at BARCIK Raihanpur Resource Centre, Pathorghata, Borguna since February 2012. He is involved in facilitating the community led sustainable development initiatives that aims at biodiversity conservation, climate change adaptation and mitigation as well as ensuring community peoples’ food security. In this regard, Mr Biswas works with farmers, fishers, youth groups, civil societies and different professional groups. He also formulates action plan, writes reports coordinates all field staffs. Previously Mr. Biswas worked for Bangladesh Rural Advancement Committee (BRAC) for 10 years. He has BSS and MSS degree on Political Science under National University.

Mr. Amit Sarkar has been working for BARCIK since 2012 as an Associate Program Officer (Agriculture). Mr. Sarkar contributes to implement the designed development activities of BARCIK aim at developing the socio-economic status as well as making community people aware about their rights. He facilitates community mobilization, conducts and arranges workshops, seminars & press conference and campaign to familiarize the best practices of community to adapt to climate change as well as lobby for establishing the right of the communities on natural resources. Mr. Shahin Islam has been working for BARCIK since 2004. The core responsibility of Mr. Islam as a Program Officer include: Project development, Research, documentation of natural resource & climate change adaptation and best practices. As Program Officer, Mr. Islam is also facilitates community mobilization, conducts and arranges workshops, seminars & press conference and campaign to familiarize the best practices of community to adapt to climate change as well as lobby for establishing the right of the communities on natural resources as advocacy tools. Mr. Islam also produces reports and writes features of his experiences for publication of the organizations. He also facilitates and coordinates BARCIK staffs in Shymanagar for smoothly implementation of project activities aim at empowering community people. He attended many seminars, workshops and symposium both in home and abroad to enrich his knowledge facilitating community people. He also keeps regular communication with local administration; civil society and journalist to link them with BARCIK works. Mr. Islam obtained an M.S.S degree on Anthropology from University of Rajshahi.

Bidhan Modhu works as an associate accountant of BARCIK in Shymanagar Resource Centre of Shymanagar, Satkhira. He was affiliated with BARCIK since 2008 working as associate accountant to keep financial records and contributes in the smooth implementation of the designed activities and to explore the knowledge and contribute in empowering local communities in that particular area. However, Bidhan Modhu is also involved in the management of the office for systematizing working environment of BARCIK in Shymnagar. Mr Modhu obtained M.B.S degree on Accounting from National University.

Ramkrishna Joardar has been working with BARCIK since 2008 as an associate program officer in the field site of BARCIK namely Shymanagar. However, with the objective to study the livelihood options as well as lifestyle of rural people of the working area, Mr. Joardar tries to build rapport and facilitates people in various ways. Thus, he observes the livelihood pattern and learns about their strength, limitation and the potentiality of the area to be addressed through development activities. Having such knowledge on the life and livelihood pattern of those people has enabled him to facilitate, motivate and organize them for establishing their rights. He also, assists community people arranging press conference, meeting, workshops and seminars. He also works to encourage people conserving biodiversity, uncultivated plants and protecting the environment through their environment friendly life and livelihood practices. He has a post graduate degree from National University.

Biswajit Mondal has been working with BARCIK since 2008 as an associate program officer in Shymanagar, Satkhira. Mononjoy Mondal currently acts as area in-charge of BARCIK Shymanagar Resource Centre in Shymanagar of Satkhira district. As area in-charge, he is responsible to formulate plan and ensure the implementation of activities in accordance with the planning. He is involved in producing report, monitoring and evaluation of the projects BARCIK implements in Satkhira. Mr Mondal also keeps regular communication with local administration; civil society and journalist to familiarize the activities of BARCIK as well as to facilitate community people having linkage with those administrative and civil society bodies and avail the services they are entitled to receive. Mr Mondal has received different types of trainings that enabled him to perform his assigned duties properly. He has a post graduate degree from National University. Mr. Mondal has been working for BARCIK since 2008.

Jesmin Ara has been working for BARCIK since 2012. Md. Abul kalam Azad is an agriculturist. Md. Jahid Ali has been working with BARCIK as an Associate Program Officer at BARCIK Nachole Resource Centre, Nachole, Chapai Nawabgonj since October 2010. The core responsibility of Mr. Ali as an associate Program Officer and Researcher include: Documentation of climate change adaptation initiatives of the community people, indigenous knowledge based sustainable agro practices and facilitation of community people identifying their problems associated with their lives and livelihoods. Mr. Ali based on the collected information and documentation, facilitates the community people to get their problems solved and assists them having linkage with governmental and non-governmental service delivery organizations. He also facilitates and coordinates BARCIK staffs in Nachole for smoothly implementation of project activities aim at empowering community people. He attended many seminars and workshops both in home and abroad to enrich his knowledge. He keeps regular communication with local administration; civil society and journalist to link them with BARCIK works. Previously Mr. Ali worked as a research assistant of James P Grant School of public health (BRAC University and BRAC RED) for 3 years. Mr. Ali obtained an B.S.S and M.S.S degree on Anthropology from University of Rajshahi.

Mr. Amreto Kumar Sarkar has been working for BARCIK since 2011. As an Associate Program Officer (Agriculture) Mr. Sarkar he has been contributing to implement the designed development activities of BARCIK aim at developing the socio-economic status as well as making community people aware about their rights. He facilitates them to get their agriculture related problems solved and having increased access to the services and facilities provided both the state and private sector. Besides, he encourages community people conserving biodiversity, finding means to adapt to changed situation by conducting agricultural research for selection of suitable varieties to cope with climate change etc. Mr. Sorker also is involved in producing reports and feature for publication of BARCIK and documents the best practices of the community people to share with others. He facilitates farmers to adopt sustainable agriculture and leave energy intensive agriculture to contribute in sustainability of the environment. Mr Sarker received agriculture diploma from Agriculture Training Institute in 2009.

Rasheda Akter has been working with BARCIK since 2007 as an assistant Program Officer. Through her sincere works and performance she got promoted to Program Officer. Initially she was responsible to facilitate farmers and rural women to organize meetings, conserve seed, establish seed banks, making organic fertilizers as well as help women community having access to their rights and promote their empowerment. After being promoted to Program Officer she conducts meetings, dialogues and sharing session with youth, women and farmers, coordinates different activities of her fields, creates liaison with government and non-governmental organizations, entities, makes communication with concerned authorities and individuals and conducts campaign activities of BARCIK with the aim to create awareness on gender, agriculture, social responsibilities and climate change issues. Ms. Akter over the years received various trainings on Gender, facilitation, education, PRA, report writing, rice breeding and organizational strengthening to sharpen her knowledge and enrich her skill. Previously Rasheda Akter worked as an assistant accountant with BRAC. She obtained a post graduate degree in political science from the National University.

Sattaranjan Saha has been working for BARCIK since 2008. The responsibilities he holds an Associate Program Officer of the organization include: conducting advocacy, assisting farmers and other occupational groups forming organizations, assisting and providing training to farmers about livestock rearing, facilitating farmers and women groups conserving seeds, practicing indigenous knowledge based agricultural works and developing mutual relationship with the occupational groups that BARCIK works with in the area. Mr. Saha received training on gender issue, land reform and land survey, land law management, participatory rice breeding, report writing. Previously he worked for Nijera Kore, a national NGO for seven years. He obtained M.S.S degree on Social Welfare from National University.

Mr Hossain has more than 7 years of practical experience in the field of development, education, health, nutrition and training in the grass root level. He has been working for BARCIK as an associate program officer since 2012. As associate program officer he facilitates farmers conserving biodiversity, arranges and organizes meetings, workshops, motivates farmers in various ways, documents the best practices of farmers to cope with changed situation, helps other occupational groups promoting their rights on natural resources etc. He received training on mass communication, partnership Approach, Women empowerment, Gender equity, Nutrition health, Home gardening, agriculture technologies, Organizational development process and marketing issues etc. Mr Hossain has a Master degree from National University.

K M Munmun Hafiz has been working for BARCIK since February 2014. Currently he is assigned as a Researcher (Audio-visual Documentation) of Knowledge Management and Communication Cell (KMC) of BARCIK. Mainly he produces Documentary Films, Social Ads, Visual Training Materials and different kinds of Visual Presentations for BARCIK. K M Munmun Hafiz (working name Hafiz Shishir) has a diversified work experiences. He started his carrier as a Creative Assistant Director at 2007 in 20Miles Studio (a sister concern of Asiatic MCL) and he worked for Colourbar, Shoptodinga and Icchamoto at the same Position. After that he starts working as a Video Editor in Antora Media. His carrier as a development professional starts with Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB) as an Associate Theater Trainer, followed by Research Initiative Bangladesh (RIB) at the same position and BRAC as a Program Organizer (Popular Theater). He also worked for ATN Bangla as an Assistant Producer and Channel 24 as a Program Monitoring Officer. Now he acts as a sub-editor (visualization) of barciknews.com. Hafiz Shishir completed his MA in Stage Play Direction and BA (Hons) in Drama from Dept. of Drama & Dramatics, Jahangirnagar University.

Md. Bahauddin currently works with BIAS (BARCIK Institute of Applied Studies) as a Researcher & Course Coordinator. His responsibilities include: maintaining liaison, communication and relationship with other Universities, educational institutions, Community Resource Person, and Development professionals to facilitate research related activities. As well as Supervising, supporting and coordinating the activities of BARCIK’s research volunteers and research interns on the process of research. He started his career as Research Assistant with BARCIK on natural water resource management in Barind & Coastal region. Mr. Bahauddin also gained intensive knowledge from BRAC as a Senior Sector Specialist of M&E and D, GJD. He also learned research from James P Grant School of Public Health (JPGSPH), BRAC University as a Research Officer, under the Universal Health Coverage program. He worked with Research and Evaluation Division (RED) of BRAC as a Research Assistant. Working as researcher and facilitator in development arena, Mr. Bahauddin organizes and facilitates international seminar, meetings and gathering on “Social Action”, Climate Fair, Youth Climate Camp, Youth Parliament and advocacy on creating mass opinion regarding reducing violence Against Women. His area of interest mainly covers Religion, Gender & Climate change. Mr. Bahauddin has an MSS and BSS on Anthropology from University of Rajshahi. He has been working with BARCIK since 2014.

Bodrul Alam has received B.S.S and M.S.S degree in Anthropology from University of Rajshahi. He has been working with BARCIK since March, 2014 as Assistant Researcher under the Peoples led Development Process (PLDP) project whereby he predominantly involved in carrying out independent research work, identifying and documenting good practices of local people, providing assistance in participatory monitoring as well as in preparing monthly plan and report in relation to organization’s working issues. Previously, during study, he worked as intern with BNWLA on cross-border child issues and as a research assistant with reputed non-govt. organizations such as Plan Bangladesh, Water Aid, VERC, & MKP. His area of interest predominantly covers Farmers knowledge and Indigenous Practices, Climate Change and Adaptation Strategies, Access to Health Services, Adolescent Sexual and Reproductive Health, Gender & Economy, Child Rights, and concurrent development practices.

Shukufe Islam has been working with BARCIK since February 2014 in Manikganj area as Media and Campaign Officer. Her responsibility is to ensure the involvement of local print and electronic media to raise their voices for older people rights in Manikganj district and build linkages with national media professionals. She is also responsible for developing campaign materials for cultural actors, journalists and civil society members, organizing union and district level cultural festival, seminars, workshop and training programs. She started her career in 2013 as communication officer with a non-government organization SR Asia Bangladesh (Social Responsibility Asia Bangladesh). As communication officer, she drafted press releases, reports, ensuring publication of case studies, lesson learnt documentation, newsletters etc. Shukufe also worked with SSD Tech, a technology company, as content developer for broadcast advertisement. Previously, she worked as Voice Artist in Grameen Phone radio service. Her area of interest covers rights based issues, gender, cultural campaigning, child education, climate change. Shukufe Islam has completed post graduation degree in Script Writing and graduation degree in Drama and Dramatics department of Jahangirnagar University.

Taposh Ghosh has been working with BARCIK as a program assistant at Koitora resource Centre, Manikgonj since October, 2006. Later he was promoted as associate program officer through his sincere works and performance. He is primarily involved in facilitating the community led sustainable development initiatives that aims at biodiversity conservation, climate change adaptation and mitigation as well as ensuring community peoples food security. In this regard, he intensively communicates with farmers, fishers, youth groups, civil societies and different professional groups. He also works to encourage people conserving biodiversity, uncultivated plants and protecting the environment through their environment friendly live and livelihood practices. Over the years, he received various trainings and attended workshops on gender, facilitation, PRA, report writing, rice breeding, development practices, PVS and conservation plot, SRI etc. Mr. Ghosh has BSS and MSS degree in political science under national university and LLB (PASS) course degree from the same university.

Mr. Nitai Chandra Das has been working for BARCIK as an accountant since 2006. As an accountant he has experience in preparing financial statements, monitoring daily cash transactions, developing annual budgets and recording all financial activities and dealing with internal and external auditing. He also produces financial reports based on the format provided by different donor agencies. He also conducts training on accounts keeping and facilitates the assistant accountants of BARCIK in different working areas. Mr Nitai received training on “Accounts software, Basic Accounting and financial Management Manual, Human Resource Strategic and Policies” conducted by BIM and on “Basic Accounting and Financial Management Manual” conducted by Diakonia,Dhaka. Mr Nitai has a graduate degree (Commerce) from the national university.

Md. Nazrul Islam has been working with BARCIK since 2011 in Manikgonj area as an associate researcher. As an associate researcher he visits field, arranges meeting, organizes focus group discussion for collecting information associate with his assigned research activities. Besides, he conducts campaign activities to create awareness among the community people particularly youth community on minimizing the use fossil fuels concentrating on increasing the use of renewable energy. In addition to this he also organizes formal and informal dialogue with students, farmers and other groups of people to motivate them conserving biodiversity, practicing sustainable agriculture as part of contributing to ease the climate change problem. Mr. Islam is a social activist and voluntarily involved himself in social action issue with the objective to create social harmony and cohesion in the society. Previously he worked as Manikgonj district coordinator of Youth Ending Huger a project financed by the Hunger Project. Mr. Islam has a graduate and post graduate degree in Economics from National University and completed LLB (Pass) Course from the same University. He is member of Manikgonj district Bar Council.

Pankaj Kumar Paul has been working with BARCIK since 2013 as an assistant program Officer under the Climate Change, Adaptation & Mitigation Initiatives Project of BARCIK. He was promoted to associate program officer later on. His main activities include: Facilitating youth, farmers and occupational groups, arranging meeting and dialogue, collecting information from the working areas, coordinating field related activities and keeping intensive communication with civil society groups, government, NGO representatives, journalists etc. Mr. Paul participated in “Leaders of Influence (LOI) Program, “Nirbachani Omlimpiad” and had training on Climate Change, Adaptation & Mitigation Initiatives. Previously he served as a Part time Lecturer in Terosree College & Serving as a Part time teacher in Terosree K. N. Institution. He also acted as Executive Editor of the weekly “The Gono Chatona” and Editor of “The Troimasik Antorngo”. Mr. Paul has graduate and post graduate degree on Botany from the National University.
