Shymnagar Upazilla Administration provides BARCIK ‘Independence day-2015 Award’

BARCIK has achieved a huge formal recognition from the Shymanagar Upazilla administration for its contribution in the agriculture sector of Shymnagar of Satkhira district. This recognition came in an event arranged by the Shymanagar Upazilla administration to mark the independence day of Bangladesh. However, on behalf of BARCIK area coordinator Md. Shahin Islam received the award from the Parliament Member (MP) of Satkhira-4 constituency on that day including other 6 ‘Independence Award’ recipients. The other persons who received the reputable awards included: Late Animesh Benergy (Culture), Late Khan Anser Uddin (Education), Late Kazi Abdul Hamid Chairman (Social Welfare), Late Master Rafiquddin (Sports), Freedom Fighter Md. Sheikh Atiar Rahman (Liberation war) and Ms. Zebunnesa Jalil (Liberation war).

The gorgeous event started early in the evening on 27 March, 2015 being presided over by the UNO of Shymanagar Abu Syed Md. Monjur Alam. Parliament Member of Satkhira-4 constituency S.M Joglul Haider attended the event as chief guest while special guests of the event include UNO of Kaligonj Syed Faruq Ahmed, Shymanagar Awameleuge general secretary S.M Ataul Hauqe Dulan, Shymanagar press club president Akbor Ali, Principle of Kaligonj Rokeya Monsur College Zafrul Alam Babu and social activist Afzalul Haque. With the moderation of Assistant Commissioner (Land) of Shymnagar including the MP the daughter of Animesh Benergy Chandrika Benergy, wife of Kazi Abdul Hamid Shahana Hamid and daughter of Master Rafiq Uddin Afroza Khatoon and BARCIK representative Shahin Islam delivered speech in the event. Thousands of people gathered in the Upazilla Parisod Premise to witness the event as well as learned the contribution of those people who received the ‘Independence Award’ as their works being presented in Multimedia presentation in wide screen.

The contribution of BARCIK to promote the rights of farmers on agriculture and the facilitative role of BARCIK to empower the farmers recognizing their sustainable way of food production as well as to cope with the climatic hazards somehow have been appreciated by the people of almost all stakes. The emergence of Farida Parveen, Sirajul Islam, Alpona Rani and some other farmers in the area has reflected the working approach of BARCIK to others where BARCIK emphasizes on the experience and knowledge of the people it works with rather than imposing its strategies on them. Thus the recognition that comes through the ‘Independence Award’ will surely boost the confidence of BARCIK staffs working in the coastal areas as well as the people who extended their helping hands to get BARCIK did it facilitative role in developmentindi-2 arena.
