BARCIK observed international biodiversity day

BARCIK observed the international biological diversity day yesterday with different colorful events that include: discussion, human chains, rallies and meetings it its different working areas. Bearing the theme of the international biodiversity day in 2023 which is ‘From Agreement to Action: Build back biodiversity’ the organization implemented all those activities and events ensuring the participation of people from different stakes and walks. Below are the brief description of those events implemented in different areas of BARCIK to mark the very day.

In a human chain organized in Tanore of Rajshahi the nature lovers say that all living beings need to maintain balance in nature. If bees disappear from nature or the soil is contaminated with toxic materials, all life including humans will be in danger.

Therefore, Mohar Swapna Ashar Alo youth organization president Md. Alamgir Hossain said, “We have presented the words of the the suffering of nature today. If we all work together from our respective places to protect the balance of nature, it will be good for all of us.

BARCIK’s official Amrito Sarkar said, “We get everything from nature, it is our responsibility to protect all elements of nature. We have organized this exceptional human bond with the aim of making the new generation aware and increasing public awareness towards the importance of biodiversity.

While in a discussion arranged in Manikgonj with communities and students Masudur Rahman of BARCIK said, ‘We are all connected to each other in the world. Our life is connected with all life. But the massive use of chemical pesticides on our land is destroying countless biodiversity. If this continues, after a certain time it will be impossible for us to survive. Therefore, it is our responsibility to protect all lives including the biodiversity in the nature.

On the other hand, in a meetings with youths held in Satkhira to mark the biodiversity day the speakers and youths said that no one can live on this earth alone. In order to survive including humans all life forms depend on each other for many things including foods and shelter. Tree for instance, relies on ground and tiger on deer for foods. Not only these but every large and small animal on earth is dependent on each other.’

Besides, in a discussion and rally held in Netrakona the speakers said that the biodiversity is getting decline day by day due to human’s unplanned activities and development initiatives, Some of the development initiatives are responsible for the depletion of biodiversity. Trees are chop down and forest are degraded many times for the sake of development. They asked all not to do any kind of violent activities against the nature. They said, ‘Let us not kill biodiversity for our own survivability.’
