Cycle Rally held in Satkhira demanding climate justice

Demanding climate justice and carbon emissions reduction a bicycle rally was held in Satkhira. This rally was organized by non-governmental organization named BARCIK and the Education, Culture and Diversity Protection Team On Sunday morning in Satkhira city.

With the slogan ‘Cycling for Climate Justice’, the rally started in front of Satkhira Government Women’s College and passed through Satkhira city.   During the rally, the youth hanging placards on their chests with the slogan ‘Climate justice is needed now’, ‘Can’t you hear the cries of the coast’, ‘Carbon-dioxide living is our doom’, ‘Crying of the coast, we want climate justice’, ‘One world, one chance’, ‘We are  not responsible, but why victims’ and ‘Reduce carbon emissions, let us live’. At the same time, they show red cards to carbon emitting countries.

Earlier in the morning, eminent musician Abu Affan Roz Babu, President of Combined Cultural Alliance, Satkhira District unit inaugurated the rally as the chief guest. When Sheikh Siddiqur Rahman, president of Udichi Satkhira district unit, Sculptor Suresh Pandey, Habibul Hasan, President of Education, Culture and Diversity Protection Team and BARCIK Officer Gazi Mahida Mizan were present as special guests.

Musician Abu Affan Roz Babu said, ‘carbon is increasing in the air. For that Global warming is increasing. The people of rural, city and coastal areas are affected. We are the most affected by climate change.’ He went on saying, ‘But the world developed and most carbon emitting countries are responsible for this. Of course they have to take this responsibility and make proper compensation and reduce the carbon emission rate as soon as possible.
