Empty pitcher demonstration held urging for water crisis solution

Water crisis is immense in the coastal region. Due to water scarcity people in the region face problems in maintain their household works and agriculture production. There is saline water almost everywhere creating pollution and diseases. The people in the coastal region have been demanding to solve their water scarcity.

However, in order to attract the attention of the concern authorities a symbolic empty pitcher demonstration and mass signature program was organized recently at Porakatla village of Burigoalini Union of Shyamnagar demanding to solve the water crisis. The demonstration was organized by Coastal Voluntary Organization Sundarban Student Solidarity Team (SSST) and CDO Youth Team in collaboration with BARCIK.

The participants in the event made different demands urging the concern government department to take initiative in solving the water crisis. They made a human chain with a pitcher and signed a mass sign to show the water problem of the local people.

Including youths from youth team local communities comprise men, women, youths, children and students participated spontaneously in the event. BARCIK’s Upazila Public Coordination Committee’s President Sheikh Sirajul Islam was also present and spoke in the event. Besides, the employees of BARCIK, a private research and development organization, were also present.
