The negative effects of climate change has created multifaceted crises and problems in Bangladesh and the same has been seen in the Barind region of the country. Due to intense heat, drought caused by climate change followed by water shortage, the youths of Barind region think that there is a possibility of social conflict in this area and the crisis will intensify the problems in the area of biodiversity, people’s livelihood and food security in the future.

However, to express solidarity with other countries and regions of the world, the youth of Barind region have undertaken a week-long program to celebrate World Climate Action Week 2022. The week-long program will be held jointly by BARCIK and Barind Region Youth Organization Forum. In continuation of that, a press conference was organized at Rajshahi Journalist Union office yesterday. It was said in the press conference that Bangladesh is not responsible for climate change at all. It is our just right to be compensated for the loss and damage we have suffered due to climate change. Every year the world leaders sat together to negotiate about reducing carbon emission but their efforts still do not bring any solution. As a result, young people around the world are strongly demanding the rich countries of the world to ensure justice in solving the climate crisis. Greta Thunberg, a young representative of rich countries, recently started a movement with young people around the world to protest the irresponsibility of world leaders. She said, ‘You elders are telling us false stories, stop your carbon emissions now by giving up your luxurious life. Because we have only one world and if it is not saved from being destroyed 7 billion people and other life forms will disappear from this world. It is to mention that along with the youths of Barind region of Bangladesh, the local population expressed solidarity with her statement and are conducting demonstration at local level to take action combating climate change.
