Shahinur Rahman from Singair, Manikganj
A dialogue was held in Nobogram village of Bolodhara union in Singair considering the pandemic and its challenges with the slogan “proti inchi mati, gorbo sonar ghati.” Which means every inch of land will be used properly for good agriculture production. In this connection, participants discuss about the development of Shoto Bari, the nutritrition bank initiative initiated by BARCIK with the aim to produce safe and nutritious foods exploiting every inch of lands.
Md karam Ali president of Manikganj Krishi Unayan Songothan, Abdul Latif president of Bolodhara Krishi Unayan Songothan, Selina Begum general secretary Zila Nari Unayan Committee, Md. Alamin Hossain nature lover and assistant teacher of Lemubari Binoda Sundori Bohumukhi High school, farmer Mohadev Mondal bio-fertilizer and bio-pesticide producer and conserver, Farmer Sontos Mondal, Md. Yunus Ali, Vanu Begum, Monwara Begum, Abdul Khalek, Poresh Mondal and BARCIK staff member Sharmin Aktar. The dialogue was conducted by BARCIK staff member Shahinur Rahman participated in the dialogue.
Md. Karam Ali said, “In my childhood people were taking part in different social work, they came forward to help each other. Nowadays the scenario has changed; people are very busy with their own interest and lives. I hope, Shoto Bari (Nutrition bank) will be a Symbol of social cohesion and harmony. We will work hard together for the development of Shoto Bari. It will be a learning centre for the people.’
Another participant Alamin said, `We need to provide adequate fruits to the children and elderly people of every household. It will increase their immunity. I have sown varieties of fruit seedling to get toxic free fruits. I have installed a water tap beside the road for safe drinking water and arrange roadside light for safe travelling of the villagers.’
BARCIK staff member Bimal Roy discussed about the objectives of Shoto Bari initiative. He said that the intention of Shoto Bari model is to involve as much people as possible in different ways. It is expected that Shoto Bari will contribute to people nutrition needs and assist people to face the challenges during the pandemic.
