Unity is key to solving Problems

BARCIK recently conducted a training at village level in Singair of Manikgonj where farmers, women and other occupational groups participated. The objective of the meeting was to help the participants identifying their problems, design actions, rights-based work, and analysis of socio-economic, political and increase their facilitation skill. A total of 30 people participated in the training and learned various things which helps them developing their capacity.

Participating in the training, farmers discussed regarding the declining agricultural land, increase price of land, crisis of local seeds, child marriage, drugs, social dilemmas, and broken roads for transportation of agricultural products, crisis of natural water bodies, lack of community clinics and lack of educational institutions. The facilitators helped the participants to analyze which institutions and agencies can solve the identified problems and what should be the roles of the communities in the training.

The analysis showed that Upazila Chairman, Union Chairman, Union Member, Political Leader, Land Officer, Upazila Executive Officer, Market Committee, Deputy Assistant Agriculture Officer, Health Workers, Rural Matbar, High School Headmaster, Upazila livestock Officer etc. can cooperate the communities to solve these problems.

The trainer Md. Hazrat Ali said, ‘If we want to achieve our rights, we have to identify the problems in the village. In addition to identifying the problem, we need to find the cause of the problem and make a plan to solve it.’ He added, ‘We need to identify issues on a priority basis and build a united force through mutual cooperation in an organizational manner. Problems need to be solved through a united force.’
