Cleanliness campaign to prevent plastic pollution held

With the slogan ‘Let’s all take an oath to stop plastic pollution’, cleanliness drive has been conducted in Satkhira to prevent plastic pollution and to create dengue awareness.

Recently, this cleanliness drive was conducted by the volunteer organization named ‘Education Culture and Diversity Protection Team’ and ‘Ashar Alo Kishori Team’ in collaboration with non-governmental organization BARCIK in Rajar Bagan Rishipara of Satkhira Municipality.

Satkhira Sadar Upazila Female Vice Chairman Kohinur Islam inaugurated the cleanliness campaign as the chief guest. At this time, the members of Education Culture and Diversity Protection Team and Ashar Alo Kishori Team along with Upazila Women Vice Chairman Kohinur Islam removed the plastic items scattered around Rishipara and the wastes that help in the propagation of Aedes mosquitoes.

BARCIK Director Pavel Parth, Assistant Program Officer Gazi Mahida Mizan, Youth Organizer Jahangir Alam, Education Culture and Diversity Protection Team’s Member Saifullah Al Mamun, Farhana Akhtar, Ashar Alo Kishori Team President Shikha Das, Member Anamika, Shanta, Monika, Suchna all participated in the campaign.

Taking part in the event, Upazila Women’s Vice Chairman Kohinur Islam said, ‘If everyone can keep their area clean, then it is possible to stay free from various diseases including dengue and diarrhea.’

Pavel Partha, director of BARCIK, said, ‘We should try to keep our area clean by our own initiative. Besides, everyone should be aware. Garbage should be thrown at a specific place instead of throwing it everywhere.’

Meanwhile, the participants demanded the installation of a dustbin in the area.
